LORMAN, Miss. (Oct. 12, 2025)** — Authorities are responding to reports of an active shooting situation on the campus of **Alcorn State University** this evening.
University officials issued an emergency alert to students and staff, stating:
“A shooting has been reported on campus. If you are on campus, seek shelter immediately. Do not leave your secure location until given an all-clear by authorities.”
Law enforcement officers are on the scene, and the campus remains on lockdown as of this report. Students are being urged to stay away from windows and to silence their phones while sheltering in place.
At this time, it is unclear how many people are involved or if there are any injuries. The Alcorn State University Police Department, along with Claiborne County Sheriff’s deputies, are actively investigating the incident.
Parents and community members are asked to avoid the area to allow emergency responders to do their work.
