PALO ALTO Suicide – Authorities are investigating after an individual died Friday morning in an apparent suicide at the Palo Alto Caltrain station, officials confirmed.
The incident prompted an immediate response from Caltrain personnel, Palo Alto Police, and emergency medical teams. Train service was temporarily halted in both directions as authorities worked to secure the area and conduct preliminary investigations.
Caltrain officials said the individual was struck by a northbound train near the station platform. Despite emergency responders’ efforts, the person was pronounced dead at the scene.
Caltrain expressed condolences to the individual’s family and those affected by the tragic event, saying in a statement, “We extend our deepest sympathies to the loved ones of the person involved. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted, including passengers, crew, and first responders.
Authorities have not released the victim’s identity pending notification of next of kin. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office is assisting with the investigation.
