It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of Cameron Pearson, age 20, of Sumter County, South Carolina, who lost his life far too soon on the afternoon of Tuesday, July 2, 2025.
According to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, an altercation between acquaintances near Old Manning Road turned deadly. At approximately 2:58 p.m., dispatchers received a report of a shooting. Deputies arrived on the scene to find Cameron had succumbed to his injuries.
Cameron was officially identified by Sumter County Coroner Robbie Baker, and his family has been notified. An autopsy is scheduled to be performed next week at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Cameron will be remembered as a young man full of potential and spirit. His sudden passing has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him. He was a son, a friend, and a cherished member of the community.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this tragic event and continues the search for those responsible. Anyone with information is urged to contact 911.
