The Watervliet community is mourning the loss of Chayse Ott, a promising young life cut far too short after a tragic car accident.
Chayse was known among peers, classmates, and teammates for his dedication, positive spirit, and love for life. He was an integral part of the Watervliet High School community, embraced by friends and family for his warmth and enthusiasm.
On Sunday afternoon, local authorities responded to a serious crash near M-140 on Dwight Boyer Road in Watervliet Township, where Chayse was critically injured. Emergency responders worked to extricate him and rushed him to hospital. Despite their efforts, he passed away from his injuries later that day.
Those who knew Chayse remember him not only for his energy on the field and in the classroom, but also for the way he treated others with kindness and respect. His ability to inspire those around him was a gift that will not be forgotten.
