In Loving Memory of Cody Reesman
A Dedicated Martial Arts Instructor, Loving Husband & Father, and Cherished Friend
It is with profound sadness that we share the unexpected passing of Cody Reesman, a gifted martial arts instructor at Gracie Jiu‑Jitsu Savannah and devoted husband and father. Originally from Warren, Ohio, Cody had made his most recent home in Savannah, Georgia, where he was known for his gentle spirit, strength, and unwavering compassion .
Cody passed away suddenly on July 11, 2025, leaving behind a community deeply touched by his integrity, kindness, and passion for helping others. His presence on the mat was only matched by the warmth he shared in every interaction, always encouraging those around him to push beyond their limits emotionally, mentally, and physically.
As a trainer with Gracie Jiu‑Jitsu Savannah, Cody’s impact extended far beyond techniques and drills. He was a mentor, protector, and steady guide for countless students.
Above all else, Cody cherished his family. He was a loving husband to his wife, Dawn Mae, and a devoted father to their young son, Krew. He lived each day striving to create a nurturing and joyful life for them, embodying the values of strength, compassion, and presence that he taught both at home and in the dojang .
Cody Reesman is survived by his wife, Dawn Mae, their son Krew, and a large extended community family, students, and friends who were uplifted by his spirit and generosity. Though he left us too soon, his legacy lives on in every life he influenced, every lesson he taught, and every act of kindness he inspired.
May we honor his memory through our own compassion, strength, and commitment to community just as he did every day.
Rest in peace, Cody. You were one of the great ones on and off the mat and you will be deeply missed.
