It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Officer David Rose, 33, of the DeKalb County Police Department, who was tragically killed today while responding to reports of a shooter in Atlanta.
A devoted father of two with a third child on the way, Officer Rose’s life was defined by his love for his family and his dedication to serving and protecting his community. He joined the DeKalb County Police Department in September, entering the police academy and proudly graduating in March.
In his short time with the department, Officer Rose earned the respect of his colleagues and the gratitude of those he served. His bravery and sacrifice will forever be remembered.
He leaves behind his his family, his friends, his loved ones who will carry his memory in their hearts. Funeral arrangements will be announced in the coming days.
