Strongsville, Ohio murder suicide – Tragedy struck Friday night after a 49-year-old woman was shot and killed in a residential neighborhood, according to the Strongsville Police Department.
Officers responded to the 22400 block of Rock Creek Circle around 8:06 p.m. following reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, police discovered the woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and a 74-year-old man, identified as Gene Tomcho, holding a handgun.
Authorities said when officers ordered Tomcho to drop the weapon, he turned the gun on himself and fired. Both individuals were treated at the scene by Strongsville Fire-Medics and transported to a nearby hospital.
The woman succumbed to her injuries several hours later, police confirmed. Tomcho remains hospitalized and is now facing felony charges in connection with the deadly shooting.
The Strongsville Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident. The victim’s identity has not yet been publicly released, pending family notification.
Community members are mourning the loss of the woman, describing the event as a heartbreaking tragedy that has shaken the quiet neighborhood.
