It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James King Jr., age 64, of Summerville, South Carolina. James tragically lost his life in a single-vehicle accident near Ridgeville on the morning of **Tuesday, August 5, 2025. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 5:10 a.m., according to Dorchester County Coroner Paul J. Brouthers.
The crash occurred just after 3:20 a.m. on Givhans Ferry Road near River View Bluff. James was driving a 2022 Ford pickup truck eastbound when the vehicle left the roadway, struck several trees, and overturned. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted at the Medical University of South Carolina on Friday at 10:30 a.m. The incident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.
James will be remembered for his presence in the Summerville community and the life he lived with quiet strength. His passing is a heartbreaking loss to all who knew him.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family at a later date.
