A master storyteller, Ken had a rare gift for making people feel seen and understood—whether he was covering breaking news, highlighting the unique characters of East Tennessee, or delivering one of his signature “Schwall’s World” reports that so many came to love. With wit, wisdom, and warmth, Ken connected the community in ways that transcended journalism. He informed us, he entertained us, and most of all, he made us feel like family.
Ken’s career at WBIR was not just long—it was deeply impactful.
