Sean Debevoise Shooting – The City of Southport confirmed an active shooter situation late Saturday evening after gunfire erupted near the Southport Yacht Basin at around 9:30 p.m.
According to Public Information Officer ChyAnn Ketchum, a boat approached the dock at the American Fish Company restaurant and opened fire on patrons. The shooter then fled via the Intracoastal Waterway.
Three people were killed and at least eight others were injured. Four victims were transported to Novant New Hanover Regional Medical Center, and two others to Dosher Memorial Hospital. Officials have not yet released the names of the deceased or injured.
By 11:30 p.m., authorities confirmed that a person of interest, identified as Nigel Edge, had been taken into custody for questioning in connection with the shooting. Investigators have not released further details regarding a possible motive.

The Southport Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to call 910-457-7911. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional updates are expected as more details become available.
