The Oak Park High School community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of one of its students, who has sadly passed away after reportedly taking their own life.
School officials have not released the student’s name out of respect for the family’s privacy, but counselors and support staff have been made available on campus to help students and staff cope with the tragedy.
In a statement, the district expressed its condolences:
> “We are deeply saddened by the loss of a member of our school family. Our hearts go out to the student’s loved ones and everyone affected by this tragedy. We encourage anyone who is struggling to reach out for support — you are not alone.”
Parents and mental health professionals are urging open conversations about emotional well-being and suicide prevention in the wake of the incident.
If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available. In the U.S., you can call or text **988** to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline for free and confidential support, available 24/7.
