Ray Burtner LTHS obituary – The Lyons Township High School community is deeply saddened by the unexpected passing of **Ray Burtner**, a longtime and beloved teacher who died on Monday.
Ray began his teaching career at Lyons Township High School in 2005, serving in both the special education and science departments. Over the past two decades, he became an integral part of the school, shaping countless lives through his dedication, patience, and passion for helping students succeed.
Superintendent Brian Waterman remembered Ray as “a dedicated educator and, more importantly, a colleague and friend to so many.” In addition to his teaching, Ray served as a class sponsor and was actively involved in supporting student growth and school life.
School board president Tim Albores shared, “Ray was a wonderful friend and inspiring teacher to so many, and he will be missed by the entire LT community.”
Those who knew Ray will remember his warmth, sense of humor, and unwavering commitment to education. His legacy lives on in the many students and colleagues whose lives he touched throughout his years of service.
