It is with profound sadness that we announce the tragic passing of Zachary Shuman, who died on Sunday, July 27, 2025, at the age of 25. Zachary was found unresponsive in the parking lot of a condominium building at 77 Governor’s Road in Dundas, following a senseless act of violence. Despite the swift response of emergency services, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Zachary was a beloved son, friend, and community member. Known for his kind heart, easygoing nature, and deep loyalty to those he loved, Zachary had a bright future ahead of him. His life was cut far too short, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The Hamilton Police Service continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding Zachary’s death. Witnesses reported seeing a blue Ford Edge leaving the area around the time of the incident. Authorities are seeking the public’s help in locating the vehicle and its driver. Investigators believe there was a brief interaction between Zachary and the suspect earlier that day outside the Metro grocery store on Governor’s Road.

Police are also appealing for a possible witness to come forward—described as a woman with shoulder-length brown hair, wearing red or orange shorts—who may have information crucial to the investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Hamilton Police or Crime Stoppers.

A celebration of Zachary’s life will be announced at a later date. His family requests privacy during this time of grief and asks that anyone wishing to honor Zachary’s memory do so by contributing to efforts that support victims of violent crime.

Zachary, you were taken too soon. Your light will never be forgotten.
